the times they're a changin....

This year has been as busy, exciting, and interesting as ever. I know I am seriously lacking on the blog updates but lazy, never. Bomb Flow TV has taken over a good chunk of my free time and over all attention for this year. That's not to say that egcreekin will be left behind...only backed up a few months. I hope that everyone and their moms have been watching the BFTV updates and episodes...there are more on the way and our line up for this fall is unbelievable.

Now with this cool new media and attitude going towards Bomb Flow the Mag & TV there has been some negative feedback. Content issues, egotistical remarks, and a very new way of portraying kayaking has brought about some...what do they call it these days...oh yes, HATE! People are either not seeing the humor that is going into this, don't want to see it, or have some moral objection and are tied to their own personal visions of what this whitewater is.

Kayakers are kayakers, and for one reason...because its an amazing, fun, adventuresome, and unique sport. It gets you away from the rush of the 21st century and puts you in a place where you are in command of your own destiny. I personally love when people tell me how I act, view, and use this sport in a selfish egoistical manor. Most everyone of these people have never met me or my friends in person and surely have never paddled down a river along our side. Here lies my problem with the whole shebang. The internet gives everyone a voice, and for some reason in this sport especially, members of the kayaking community choose to strongly voice their opinions on matters that they pretty much have nothing to do with. Freedom of speech is one thing, but voicing out negative thoughts and energy is something I would like the steer away from.

Whitewater is a growing industry. What people are leaning towards is free media and entertainment! This make the internet our prime hot spot. You can log in from any county in the world and see what exactly is going on in the world of kayaking. So take a minuet and appreciate what is happening in our sport. More amazing photos, videos, blogs, and free media is being brought to you everyday by many members of the community...

I am having a long overdue vent on my blog that will shortly be followed up by a bunch of write ups from this summer. All I am saying that instead of over reacting pointing fingers or forming strong negative opinions, take a second think about it and open your minds to other trains of thoughts and lifestyles. Enjoy what is happening in whitewater kayaking. Everyone is in the game for the same reason and we all love to kayak. For Love of Water F.L.O.W. that's it that's all! Enjoy the videos, write ups, pictures, and all the incredible things going on in our sport these days...kayaking is growing...are you?

Later E.G.

I totally agree, things are a changin' and they have been changing all over the place. Let's take TV for example. when I was young TV couples could not even lay on the same bed (I Love Lucy), thats changed for sure. Heck I watched some prime time tv with the kids and its all about sex, killin, gross cadavers splayed open. The word shit ain't a curse word any more... so on and so on. So I appreciate where the sport has gone, I appreciate the responsible paddling guys like you, Fred, Sho in respect to safety. So I say give it hell out there, be safe and just keep doing what ya love doing.
ps: in order to sell the BF mag. you may need to put it in a clear wrapper so that retailers will bring it in cause no matter what you or my thoughts are in regards to what is bad or good there are still a ton of folks stuck in the 60's.

I love it all dude. Vids from the BF crew, tribe, 529, my local buds, anyone and everyone makes the days I can't paddle bearable. And for anyone sayin its all just an ego trip, I say screw them, how many 50+ footers have they dropped? Shit is real. BTW, if you ever make it to my river I'll be the first, but prolly not the only, to tell you "I'm the best boater out here." Keep it steep.

eg!
Don't sweat the Haters! They're just jealous. You're right times they are a changing and for the better. You all are bringing Kayaking into the mainstream, and that is what it needs. I believe that "browning" is universal move that every kayaker can enjoy, and even teach it to both my students here at Untiy College, and out on the water up here in Maine. Even if people don't brown, or stout they cannot deny the positive vibes you all represent. Keep up the good work!

Recent videos are all super. All negative feedbacks are wrong. Paddling is mainly fun. Your vision of whitewater is the best. I hate fucking moralfags.

I love watching your crews kayaking videos and the music that goes into it. I'll be honest, I don't want to watch you guys partying. I like to party but I am not interested in watching it. I enjoy the stouts but I'm starting to get discouraged because half of the videos are just drinking. Booty beers, understandable, but bar shots are a little annoying because I thought kayaking was happening. I'm trying not to be negative here but I know quite a few people feel the same.

If you don't like watching them drinking and partying don't watch it! Or skip through those parts. I for one think it's a neat little glimpse into the lifestyle of some BAMFs.

MC

IIIs are too easy.
IVs are quite fun
Vs kinda scary

Well, there will always be people who don't like what you do. Personally I am not a fan of all the big drops, but I totally respect the people who do them and love them.

If people don't like what EG and co are doing they can always buy their own camera and make their own videos.
