Fear Canyon of the Elaho

Fear Canyon Of the Elaho from Fred Norquist on Vimeo.

Here is the last installment of the B.C. videos that we made from our 10 day trip. The water levels were funky, but we made the best of it, and had a bad ass time up there. We hit the Ashlu, Tatlow, Elaho, and Cheakamus. That is a pretty standard Squamish line up for the most part, but we camped out every night, played lots of card games locked in the tent during rain storms, got stalked by Browntin Lions, had two near terrible run ins with the Mounties, hit the swim center driving board, skated in the park, and drank lots of beer.

What more can you ask for on a boating trip? I hope you enjoyed the pictures and videos from our trip. Check back in for more video coming soon.

Tatlow Creek Video

Tatlow creek was a fun mission we hit...read about our day and see the photos here Tatlow Update. Here is the short edit we put together of the sick time we had in that canyon. This is my favorite of the three BC eidts we did, because i love the song, and the run it's self is insane! There is one more video that i will put up in a day or so of me really getting a quality beat down in a bad hole on the Fear Canyon. That was an exciting day for sure!

I have some lost photos from this summer coming up as well. They never got put up because i was sorting through the bests and missed some of the most classic and beautiful shot taken this season. I will put them up as soon as they get sorted through completely.

I have some good news! If you are looking for new and or used gear I am starting a new website where we will be selling tons of cheap gear and boats this week! Stay tuned for all those things coming soon.

The Ashlu River

The Ashlu is a very amazing place! Everyone knows this, so don't disagree. We came up for some fall releases on the Box Canyon, or as the locals call it, Commitment Canyon. Fred, Candace and I were all bunched in Gnar-Car ready for a stout mission in the back woods of this awe aspiring location. Dodging many dangerous Mountain Lions, Bears, Spiders, and heavy machinery we had an swell time enjoying the Ashlu Valley.

Candace took some action packed photos while Fred and I combined efforts to film and make a sick edit. This is the most famous river in Southern B.C. and it is a bummer to see the dam controlling flows, but there is still lots of releases and opportunities to get on this famous piece of white water. Check out the edit that has gotten some really good feed back from viewers thus far. The HD GoPro's have been taking crisp footy and its always pretty amazing to watch the Cannon 7D's clarity.

Here are some of the many shot from our two weekends on the river. 50/50 is the main attraction on the run and it is the first drop. It was easy to set of good shots so one day Bryan Smith and Reel Productions got their hands on a Phantom HD video camera to shoot us running this 40 footer. It was pretty amazing to watch kayak footage at 800 frames per second. That video may come out here pretty soon as well, we will have to see if we get lucky?

Scouting 50/50 on our first day in BC...what a way to start the trip

Taking a big stroke in to the pit of 50/50 falls.

Coming in HOT!

The only time of the trip I truly "LAID TREATS" on this drop.

Check out this camera! It took 3 people to make this thing shoot video.

Back boofing a nice ledge at the bottom of the Mine run above the Box Canyon.

Getting some different angles with the 7D. Check out that sweet Sweet Gear

REMIX...fast, sleek, sexy, red, comfy, a true machine of the art.

Summoning my Chi looking in to a small pool of water while tossing up the Brown.

HD Gold...That's what we were after! I should have stole the whole thing and paid off my mortgage. Wait I don't have a mortgage yet? Ok maybe just go kayaking for 10 years straight.

Hope you fools enjoyed the Ashlu update and if you like the video check out the rest of our BC edit coming up soon.

Tatlow Hike-a-thon

They say a picture says a thousand words...These say a million! It's hard to capture the beauty of a place like Tatlow creek, being so hidden away. However, I think these shot from Candace do a pretty dam good job. Take a peek at my last Tatlow update and you will get what I'm saying. Tatlow 2007.

This time around the road up to the Upper Ashlu river was in terrible shape and forced us to sack up and make the normally easy ascent to the run a major epic hiking mission. We walked about 2.5 miles flat, 1.5 up and 1 down? We forgot water and had a hell of a time making this run really happen for us. But knowing that this creek happens to be one of the best in Southwestern BC we gave it hell and made it to the put in. Fighting dark Fred and I ran the shity brown, filmed, and made our way down to where Candace and Steve waited to shoot some epic photos. The day ended up being a great success! After I get all the photos up I will post the amazing videos that Fred and I made from the day as well. They are some of our finest work and we just were informed that Go Pro will be using them for promotional reels for their HD cameras. Enjoy the sick shots that Candace got from a huge day out in the deep dark bush of BC!

What a rad place, it's just a bummer that we have to work so hard to get up to the put in these days. Hope the fall is starting to bring rain and water to the rivers you call home.
