Demshitz Drop...

DEMSHITZ!!!!! It is a word... a life style... and as of last year... A sick ass waterfall outside Pucon Chile. Jared Seiler logged the first descent in November last season, shortly followed by three more of us. Along with the epic technical falls you commit yourself to running three more big drops in a spectacular gorge. It just so happens that we laid some treats on the upper run two days ago, found a low level, meaning the lower canyon was prime... and that fact that I'm hungry big some big hard whitewater right now... what were we to do?

"The the run shit" as Rodrigo, my best chilean paddling partner would say... So with my buen amigo back in town, and the right level, we got in there. This could be a top 10 drop of all time for me... It has some tight must make moves above a waterfall that you can't screw the pouch on. So with a quick scout and my brothers in place I tested the waters.

A sick shot of me on the crux boof.

Sending it...

Right about to take a little bounce...

Me going into the sweet spot that sets you up real nice for a good angle of entry.

My line went well. I stayed very loose going down the falls because I knew that there was gonna be a hit on rock at some point. With a small bounce I faded a left stroke and tucked up for a nice impact at the base. Felt good to be back in the zone and hitting my line on such a tough drop. Ian and Nate decided to walk before hand, but Rodrigo was ready to go...

Rodrigo with a slightly different line on the lip.

Rodrigo starting the fall and about to connect....

This photo looks scary, but it was actually a pretty sweet line. He took a hit and hurt his ribs in the landing.

I was stoked to be back in the water with Rodrigo, so with a few "yehaaaws!" and "yips!" The other brothers seal lanched into the pool and we all dropped in the box. It was lower than last time I was in there... In my mind the rapids were more mank and hard to style out. But with good lines and enjoying the hell out of the beauty of the Nevados we all made it down stream and back to the truck with smiles on our faces. Here is documentation of our descent...

El Diablito... This rapid is tough, just ask Ian.

The top if a good double stager... I love this set.

Nate finishes out the bottom half of the same drop.

Rodrigo with some hurt ribs... making it to the point of freedom.

So there it is the second stout of chile trip 2010 all good, all done, treats laid. Now we are looking to get some Desahue and Puesco for today. Something with some strong strokes get me back in shape...

Later E.G.
